Version 2.5.18

Staged release starting November 19, 2018

New Features:

  • New notification at the end of the week showing you a quick summary of your training.
  • When you set a general target for an activity, you can now follow your progress in real time during the activity via progress bar on your first
  • You are now able to add HR zones and graph views in custom sport modes.
  • You can now easily reject or answer calls from your Spartan.
  • Sleep data insights for each of the past 7 days are now available in the watch.
  • New watchface showcasing weekly training vs your goal and battery level remaining.
  • Hebrew can now be selected as a language in your Spartan.

Enhancements and Fixes:

  • Now you can customize your laps and turn on and off sensors just before you start your activity directly from your watch. No need to worry if you did not set them up in advance.
  • New Do Not Disturb functionality
  • Improved barometric altitude filtering
  • New options for configurable tones (for alarms) in your settings.
  • Outdoor settings menu updated to make it easier set your reference altitude.
  • You can now pair Suunto app while in ‘do not disturb’ mode

Version 2.5.18

Staged release starting November 19, 2018

This update brings new features, added performance enhancements and as well as some fixes (we’ve highlighted a couple below).

New Features:

  • GLONASS is now available and can be activated when needed from the navigation menu
  • New notification at the end of the week showing you a quick summary of your training.
  • Hebrew can now be selected as a language in your Suunto 9.

Enhancements and Fixes:

  • Outdoor settings menu updated to make it easier set your reference altitude.
  • For your activities using ‘ultra’ mode, your display will turn off immediately following notice of lap or autolap, conserving more battery.
  • You can now reset foot pod calibration at pairing
  • Fixed a bug that showed the wrong distance in activity summary despite real distance calculated accurately.

Suunto Spartan Ultra Released Jun 2016. Suunto have created numerous models based on the same hardware (WAY too many to understand). There is likely a v2 in the works for this year to supercede the whole range.
Suunto >Spartan Ultra 2 Spartan is now replaced by the Suunto X series. The Ultra is replaced by the 9
Suunto Suunto 9 Baro Just released in June 2018 so don’t expect a replacement before 2020 This is the device reviewed as “Suunto 9” by most reviewers, but is not the newer, crapper Suunto 9
Midrange Suunto Suunto 9 Just released in September 2018 so don’t expect a replacement before 2020. This is the name in all the reviews, but a newer, slightly crap version of the device. Buyer beware, make sure you know what you’re buying. Yes, Suunto do have a watch called the Suunto 9 in both mid-range and high-end. Madness.
Suunto Spartan Sport, HR, Baro Released after the Ultra but based on the same hardware. Suunto have created numerous models based on the same hardware (WAY too many to understand). There is likely a v2 in the works for this year to supercede the whole range.
Suunto Spartan Sport, HR, Baro V2 Moving to the Suunto 7
Suunto Suunto 7 Due later this year, or might just be the Suunto 9.
Budget Suunto Spartan Trainer Seemingly based on different hardware than the Spartan series, this may have a different refresh cycle
Suunto Spartan Trainer 2 Probably not going to happen
Suunto Suunto 5 Coming in 2019
Fitness Suunto Suunto 3 Released 2018. Not a GPS watch so won’t be covered here
